Three years to the day… we launched BELGIAN BEER JOURNAL on the web on September 24, 2013. We had one goal in mind: TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL of Belgian Beer (and Belgian-Style / Belgian-Inspired beer) to as many people as possible around the world.
I asked Siri on my iPhone 6 Gold what 3 years equated to in time segments. Here’s what I got:
If you think about it, time is a marvelous and mysterious bedfellow. Much has happened since our first day online, here are some highlights:
BREWERY OF THE MONTH FEATURE
Since our first day online, we have featured 4 world-class breweries at Belgian Beer Journal as BREWERY OF THE MONTH:
Brasserie St. Feuillien – Le Rœulx, Belgium
Brouwerij St. Bernardus – Watou, Belgium
La Brasserie Unibroue – Chambly, (Québec) Canada
Adelbert’s Brewery – Austin, Texas
We’ve added 2 new affiliates since 2013:
We joined forces with BelgianStyleAles.com back in April 2016. They have been an excellent company to work with, and have provided Belgian Beer Journal several beers for us to BrewView that were not available in our Redding California market, with more BrewViews to come.

BELGIAN BEER ME! BEER TOURS
Stu Stuart, Founder and Quartermaster of BBM! Tours, approached us a while back to see if Belgian Beer Journal was interested in promoting his beer tour company. After several email and phone conversations, our business agreement was set, and BelgianBeerMe.com became the second affiliate of Belgian Beer Journal in 2015.
The business relationship has been a very harmonious one; we promote Stu’s company, and he sends us beers from Belgium that are extremely rare to find stateside (or not at all), and beers from the United States that are not normally available in our market. Stu is our eyes and ears when he is in Belgium on his very successful beer tours. He provides us insider info into the Belgian beer market that is not readily available through normal media channels.
If you have not been on one of Stu’s tours, you owe yourself to go on one ASAP! If visiting Belgium’s beer scene is on your bucket list, booking a tour with Belgian Beer Me! Beer Tours is the best way to go! Stu knows of beer hot spots in Belgium that are normally privy only to the locals. Each tour is designed with your comfort and safety in mind, making your trip as memorable as possible!

BELGIAN BEER JOURNAL HOSTS ITS FIRST SPECIALTY BEER TASTINGS
On January 29, 2016, Belgian Beer Journal partnered with UNIBROUE and hosted its first ever specialty beer tastings at two different venues.
The first was at Redding, California’s LIQUOR BARN:
The second was at Redding’s VIEW 202 Restaurant:
Both events were a success! Andrew Murphy of Unibroue USA (Portland, OR) and I introduced many people to Unibroue’s world class products, and we sold a lot of their beer! Our greatest thanks go out to him for his time and effort to ensure that the events were coordinated organized with the highest level of professionalism!
As we celebrate our third year on the web, we continue to be fortunate to say that our website enjoys great success and has fans from all across the globe who read our regularly posted “BrewViews.”
The scope of people continue to come from all walks of society: Beer Geeks, Celebrities, Renowned Chefs, Brewing Companies, Beer Importers, Travel Bloggers, Politicians, Athletes, Beer Bloggers, Marketing Professionals, Television Personalities, Comedians, Students, Musicians, Auto Industry Professionals, Finance Professionals, Graphic Artists, Photographers, Social Media Pros, Retail Shops, Entertainment Professionals, Authors, Restaurateurs, News Stations, Publicans, Chocolatiers, Cheese Companies, Educational Professionals, and more.
As we said two years ago, the one thing all of these people have in common: Their love for Belgian Beer! Today, the Belgian beer scene continues to infiltrate itself around the world. From a wildly popular national campaign remaining steadfast on focusing on Belgium’s national beer pride, to mounting scores of craft brewers outside of Belgium brewing the classic Belgian beer styles- many times with a modern (and very well received twist), these beers are still gaining popularity everywhere, with no end in sight. BELGIAN BEER JOURNAL remains excited as ever to be a part of this global phenomenon.

3 years and 127 BrewViews later, Belgian Beer Journal has made many friends along the way. Our social media presence continues to grow on a daily basis; looking at our site stats, it truly is amazing the far reach Belgian beer (and Belgian-Style / Belgian-inspired beer) truly has!
We continue to learn so much about the ever-changing Belgian Beer scene. One thing remains true that we expressed 2 years ago: If you fall asleep, you’ll miss out on the next best beer coming out of the newest artisanal brewery… With that said, we’re looking forward to meeting even more people, trying even more new beers, BrewViewing more old favorites, and still having fun along the way. We’re going to have a grand time in 2016 and beyond… won’t you join us for the ride?
