Call it being an outcast, trying to fit the proverbial square peg in a round hole, or being the symbolic misfit toy at Christmas (remember the purple train locomotive with square wheels)? These are beers that don’t conveniently fit in a classic category. Rebellious, they are the equivalent of driving to an unknown destination without a road map. They are truly hard to figure out, and the brewers who brew such beers like it that way.
They push the boundaries of “normal” brewing practices, and their concoctions are sometimes called “extreme” beers. They are marriages of mixed beer styles at times, offering a kaleidoscope of tastes.
This page will serve to post links on BrewViews for beers that just don’t seem to quite fit in, but we will be happy to make their acquaintance none the less.
