BREWVIEW ON BORNEM TRIPLE

This review of BORNEM TRIPLE is the first of 4 BrewViews from our beer tastings from BROUWERIJ VAN STEENBERGE. We have had this beer many times over the years since it became available here in California, but realized we never posted an official review on it. This  is our BrewView for Bornem Triple.

APPEARANCE / THE POUR:
ABV: 9%. Poured into a wide mouthed Trappist goblet at 59° F. Pours a medium golden color with a fluffy white head with medium to large bubbles in the head. Head collapses within 4-5 minutes, with a ¼” head remaining. Good Brussels lace on the sides of the glass as the head collapses. Medium rising meniscus.

AROMA / BOUQUET:
Herbal, grassy, grainy.

TASTE:
Very dry, almost peppery. Very little sweetness.

MOUTHFEEL / PALATE:
Astringent, almost alkaline. dryness hits the back of the tongue. The dryness lingers for quite a while.

FOOD PAIRING SUGGESTIONS:
APPETIZERS: Salads with light vinaigrettes.

ENTRÈES: Kip met frieten en appelmoes / Poulet-frites-compote (chicken, fries and apple sauce).

DESSERTS: Poached pears with Belgian candi sugar.

OVERALL IMPRESSION:
Bornem Triple is well made. For those that like their triples on the dryer side, this one is for you.
